Original graphite drawing on paper
The White Rabbit, sitting for a good read at the end of the day!
Framed graphite drawing/study for the creation of an oil painting in the 'Portraits of Wonderland' series - a series of paintings capturing the wonderful personalities of Lewis Carroll's marvelous book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'.
Imagine the White Rabbit—that perpetually panicked, pocket-watch-obsessed herald of Wonderland—finally catching his breath. No frantic dash down rabbit holes, no breathless cries of "I'm late, for a very important date!" Instead, he’s lounging comfortably in his favorite chair, both paws gently cradling an open book as he loses himself in its pages. A steaming cup of tea sits invitingly on the table before him, and for once, he lifts his gaze with a calm, knowing look straight at you, as if quietly sharing the rare delight of this peaceful stolen moment.
From Jeff: We all know the White Rabbit as the ultimate bundle of nerves—always rushing, always anxious, forever glancing at that ticking watch in terror of the Queen's wrath. So I wanted to flip the script and give him (and us) a delightful breather: a tender, unexpected portrait of serenity in the heart of chaos. Here he is, truly at ease, whiskers relaxed, eyes twinkling with the secret joy of a stolen pause. It’s a whimsical reminder that even in Wonderland, there’s time to simply be—and perhaps that’s the most important date of all.
